Registration / Custom button

I saw on a mavens site one time they added a custom button to the login screen. What would be the easiest way (if possible) to add a custom button on the client itself. I believe this is possible with css just not sure how I would go about doing it.

Was it actually in the client interface or just a page on their own web site that logged you in? If it was the latter, see this link:
