Connection Lost. Retrying... When connecting to local server

Post by train2hf »

I'm hosting v6 Pro version on a server at home that is hardwired to my router.

Whenever I connect to the server to play from my laptop over wifi (via the PokerMavens site - Private Servers, etc.) , I consistently get the Connection Lost. Retrying... message about every other minute or so.

When I drop wifi and connect using a hotspot on my phone (with phone then connected to cellular data, not wifi) I have no problem maintaining connection to the game.

Any tips or suggestions?

Is someone running the microwave oven in your house? Because that can mess with 2.4GHz wifi signals.

No microwave running constantly here :)
I'm connecting to 5ghz wifi channel anyway (with RSSI around -59 dBm)
Same issue when I switch over to the 2.4ghz channel.

There are no known issues with connecting to local run servers?
Had no issues running the Trial software - wasn't until we upgraded that now I can't maintain a connection to the client over wifi.

No, if anything it should be better (if hard wired).

The Trial and licensed versions operate in the same exact manner. Have you rebooted your router lately and/or checked your WiFi channel against interference from neighbors?

Oh, by the way, if you're connecting to your own Internet IP Address (either directly or via www.pokermavens.net) then it may be a NAT Loopback issue with your router. People on your Wifi should be connecting on your Local IP Address instead.

NAT loopback issue sounds promising - I'm going to try to hit the server's internal IP next game and see if it's better (rather than connecting via pokermavens.net)

Update on this - NAT loopback looks like it was the issue. Connecting to local IP fixed the issue
