iPhone connection issue

Post by Finkdaddy »

I have recently setup my PM server and have it online.

To test everything out, I have created an account as a client.
I have no problem logging in from my desktop, but when I log in via my iPhone, I get an "Unknown User" error.
It lets me observe tables, but in order to play, I have to log in.
But for whatever reason, PM doesn't recognize my account when I try to log in from my iPhone.

What can I do to fix that?

You should get a popup that says:

Unknown player: xxxxx

Where the xxxxx is the name that was submitted.

Yes, exactly. But I shouldn't be an unknown player.
I'm typing in the same username and password as on my desktop, but my iPhone says I'm an unknown player.

I can log in from my desktop, but not my iPhone.

Does your player name contain any characters that could be mistaken for others such as a one and a lower case L or a zero and and upper case O, etc? Clone your account with a simple name like xxx and see if you can log into that account.

Interesting.
I created a clone like you said, which worked.
So then I went back and logged in with my original name, which also worked even though nothing changed.

So either way, the problem has worked itself out.
Thank you very much!

My guess is that you had a leading or trailing space character on the name initially that got corrected when you had to re-enter it.
