Virtual Machine Crash and PM Error

Post by BO1LER »

I had an unexpected (obviously) crash of my virtual machine yesterday.
I restarted and launched Poker Mavens. These are the log entries just before and after the event.

There were also error logs indicating unexpected balances in tourney and ring game at startup.

When I look at the HOUSE account reconciliation on the admin portal, I now have an extra 18 in Tourney and an extra 2 in Entry Fees.
What is odd is that the tourney open at the time is a 19+1 tourney.
Also, TOTAL HOUSE is 20 less than TOTAL PLAYERS, and this has never been the case before.
How can I figure out who should have/get the 20? I can send log files if necessary.

Thanks.

Looks like a fairly light traffic load at the time. Did you login and find the server in a crashed state with the interface locked up or was it not running at all? If not running at all make sure the issue wasn't Windows rebooting itself after an automatic update. You may have to trace back each player's account in the Event Log to make sure they are where they should be and then reset your house accounts manually. Use the Event Log Viewer to help with that:

Server was not running when I got on the VM. It started just fine. Not sure why Windows would reboot without warning, but perhaps so.

I reviewed event logs for the three active players, and all have appropriate balances. I decremented TOURNEY by 18 and ENTRY FEES by 2. HOUSE balance went up accordingly, and all books balance correctly now. Looks like the extra 20 did not come from any players. Thanks as always.

Turn off Automatic Updates in Windows and just run them manually during normal down times. Some updates require a reboot.

By the way, you can see when your last bootup was by dropping to a Windows CMD prompt (Power Shell in Windows Server) and typing in:

systeminfo

Then scroll up and look for the System Boot Time line. Or type in this:

systeminfo | find /i "System Boot Time"

I had another unscheduled Windows reboot today and the game server was down. I did find that I had the Auto-Restart setting turned off in PM, so I changed that. Next time, PM will restart when the VM reboots. Just wish I knew why it did this two days in a row. No error messages this time tho.

That's the running joke about Windows in general.
Also the reason I run PM on Linux.

@hxe - Just curious since I'm using Azure with Windows for PM. Can you share a quick synopsis of how you are actually running PM on Linux? Distro and do you have an emulator since is a Win32/64 app from reading various threads? I'd like to run on Linux since it would be a whole lot cheaper.
