Yes godaddy is inside the USA

So they support win servers and wins vps

I have win vps in usa but I'm not gonna run a money site in the usa for a client on it

So we tested the script off ip's no problems

We tested in a nederlands win server ip's only

It worked great

Now we hae dns running and the script died

Again, if this NL was inside the USA setup properly with a control panel you can manage a domain off of no problem

The issue is finding for a money site in Nederlands or Iceland wither a win vps or win server that is already set up with a control panel

They give you a windows box and IP and say they don't support windows

So box was tested the IP ported perfectly through :8087

Now the dns is banging and the script stopped

So we'll play with it tomorrow

What I'm saying is, no one is supporting a windows control panel for simple domain name installation and ssl certs

You get windowns vps or server in NL and IL and get what, IT DOES NOTHING, no dns, no http, no control panel

They expect you to set it up, now inside the USA you can get vps with a control panel and remote desktop for nothing

But you're inside the USA, are you collecting money on the site?

NO

So running a money casino overseas and dealing with hosting companies that are like WINDOWS use linux

That's the issue, linux is supported all over the world, but this script wants remote desktop on a win vps or server

Try to find it in Iceland and Nederlands

I couldn't they all say NO CONTROL PANEL

So now we did a active domain service control setup, then popped in windows dns and IIS web hosting

The dns works and the main doman resolves

Yet the script died, so maybe the port has to be changed or permissions played with

I'll look at it tomorrow

Oh anyone trying to do their own dns on a windows server

Here's the steps

1. active domain service control goes first and you probably have to redo the ivp6 dynamic stuff in TCP IP to get it to work, that was our hangup

2. AD SC makes the dns server

3. You select the stuff you want to run on ISS Web Host

Then you point your host record for the new dns servers to the dns ip's you used and bingo you resolve

The whole reason servers are easy today is control panels

No one wants to install or support a windows control panel outside the USA where money casinos are being hosted

Anyway, the dns is working and tomorrow we'll figure out what settings have to be adjust so the script can find 8087 again

It's probably a block on it with the IIS web server

Where your domain name registrar is located makes no difference. These are all internet protocols, they aren't specific to Windows.

I thought you said you were using GD to host it, yeah, all registrars use the same protocols, the issue we're having is trying to find windows control panel support to run a windows server outside the USA in iceland and nederlands for real gaming.

This reminds me of pre cpanel days, it took forever to bind dns properly on a new server.

Trying to bind dns is a pain without a control panel

No, I'm currently using atlantic.net. Before that I was using burstnet. Before that, 1and1. Only using GoDaddy for domain names.

ok for those interested in overseas hosting of a windows box

you will not find any windwos vps or servers with a control panel installed, so add a domain and ssl and stuff you have to setup a control panel unless you are a maven with admin commands in a shell

what you need to do to install something like zpanelcp

do not try to set up any roles for dns or add users before you install you install your control panel, zpanel will have conflicts

also, these new windows vps or servers are not up to date

so just update the OS you are on (we had server 2008 r2)

then you must get the service packages and install them so stuff like .net framework 3.51 is working

do not install .net framework 4.0 for zpanel it wont work properly

once you have the service pack features installed then you go to zpanelcp.com and download for windows

you have to get the first 10.0 version and can update that later for the patches

before you download the zpanel you need to do the application stack download first (apache, php, etc)

once you run the stack setup you can do the zpanel first version install

then reboot and you will have to use zadmin as user to log in

then you can easily add domains and all the host records like A will be done correctly by zpanel

so hopefull this info saves someone days of frustration trying to get dns to resolve properly on a raw windows vps or dedicated server

if you set up the active domain service as a role or dns or ISS web server first before zpanel you will have conflicts

so that's how you get an easy control control panel for a windows vps or ded. win server overseas where thus far I have not found any hosting companies wanting to support any control panels for vps or ded. win servers

so that's my experince trying to get an overseas windows solution to run the script

if you like jumping through hoops to use a command line to do host records properly, do it, but most users will want a control panel for an overseas win vps or win ded. server and after days of looking for that overseas I couldn't find any willing to support and even install a windows control panel

sure inside the USA it's easy finding a remote desktop with a control panel on win vps and ded. servers

if you want to try to run a US server for real money play on PM, you don't need this info

If you want to keep the server in a neutral country like iceland or NL or switzerland, then this info will help

so the win server is running with zpanel and it was not easy

due to using the roles and scripts for dns and web servers that are included in server 2008 r2 before we tried to install a control panel inside server 2008 r2

I started the thread to get input as to if anyone had installed a CP for a win solution and no one had, some said you can get it already done, well for an overseas site trying to run btc or whatever through PM you will find the overseas hosting companies do not want to support any windows based control panels

so this long post is to help anyone else trying to overseas host PM

no reason for me to comment further, it's done, we chose zpanel due to it being github projects and open sourced

other than a minor html issue with the pro version my opinion of PM is it is an excellent script and easy to setup up on any raw IP address

sure you can easily set it up on a US vps or ded. service with a win control panel, but if you try to find that solution overseas good luck I couldn't find it and it was a couple of days to figure out the conflicts in zpanel, so a raw install works best and you just need to have the 3.51 .net framework done before you do the other installs like the app. stack

good luck

Adoni:

I thought Seals With Clubs was hosting in Iceland...or NL?

How are they doing it, if you are having so much trouble?

One other question:

why did you not try to use Wine or similar solution to allow emulation of Windows on Linux box?

I have heard of other sites using Wine successfully.

My demo site (a cheap Windows VPS) is running under SSL on a domain name right here:

https://www.pm-demo.com:8087

Getting the domain name was simply a matter of buying one at GoDaddy, typing in the name servers from my hosting provider (Atlantic.net), and waiting for that to propagate around the world.
But a local windows computer is not resolving http, dns and ssl certs
Poker Mavens is a simple HTTP server all on its own and (Gold edition) handles the SSL connection using OpenSSL. All you have to do it tell it where your cert files are. I have a utility for creating a cert request:

ken can you help me to setup a poker website

Sorry, I'm not in the web site business. There are a million resources on the internet to help you do that.
