Windows 2008 r2

Post by rinasek »

Kent,

We need to move your application from VPS to dedicated server. ISS is setup on server and application is installed. I can access aaplication from http://localhots:8087 but cant access it with ip:8087
IP address is accessable from web and i am getting that ISS is working but there is no way to access application. Can you help in any way?

Thanks in advance.

It's likely just a Windows firewall issue. As I recall, Windows Server 2008 has more complicated firewall settings than WS 2003, which is what my VPS is running. In addition to adding PMServer.exe to the exception list, I think you have to add the file and packet ports (8087 and 8088) to it also.

Download and run the free port checker program from portforward.com on your server and see if it shows 8087 and 8088 to be open:

I had the same problem when using win 2008. What I did was ask the hosting company, I enable port 8087 and 8088, and that was it.

Did you install and run the port check program on your server?

Ken,

Sorry for never answering this post. Somehow i managed it to work last time and last couple of days i got same problem because we needed server reinstalled and again spent banging my head what is wrong.
Main thing here is even if you disable firewall in control panel settings it wont work. What must be done is go to Local Security Policy and configure firewall there (overrides all other settings you made). Turn it off or just make 3 rules for poker mavens application (one general and two for ports). Posting this if someone else comes to same problem.

Regards,
Minja
