Ticket Refund on Server Shut down?

Post by Tuck Fheman »

I always thought tickets were refunded on a server shutdown if players were registered for a tournament, is this not the case?

The other day I shut down the server to update to the new version and when I started back up I realized we had a tournament registration open that required a ticket and 4 players had registered. When I went to re-register everyone I discovered they no longer had the tickets.

As far as I can tell, in the logs it showed the ticket being refunded with the +TICKETNAME on the players I checked (I assume the others did too) but none received the ticket back.

I'm unable to duplicate that. I registered a player with a ticket. When I clicked the Stop button in the admin console, it gave the ticket back to the player. I repeated the same test but instead of stopping in the admin console, I stopped the whole service in the service manager. When I restarted it, the player had their ticket back in their account.

Could it have happened because I updated after the shutdown?

The shutdown itself triggers the refund as the event log would show. Running an update patch only overwrites the program files in the program folder, it does not touch your data folder where the Accounts.db database is stored. Running the v6 to v7 Import utility would overwrite that, however. You didn't do that again, did you?

Can you purposely replicate losing a ticket? If so I'd like to know the exact steps taken.

Having this issue as well. I have a tourney that has allowed advanced registration in which players are using tickets. When rebooting, players that previously had tickets and were registered with their ticket are not refunded their ticket. Most days, I have to reissue a ticket but it does refund their ticket occasionally. Don’t think I could duplicate it.

Export that tournament's settings and send to me. I'll see if I can replicate it.
