Enforce mandatory straddle

Post by Degen »

There are times where it is agreed at a certain time everyone at the table must straddle. Sometimes players refresh and the box gets unchecked, or they simply forget.

Is there a way to enforce a mandatory straddle from admin?

No, straddles are strictly voluntary. Making them mandatory removes all strategic use of them. You should just increase the blinds instead.

I don't believe you can edit the blind settings for a game that's already in progress, unless I'm wrong.

I also don't believe there's a way to do three blinds?

No need to change them, just make them higher to begin with since that's really what a mandatory straddle would do anyway.

No, just standard rules of poker. If you're looking for home game gimmicks then you've picked the wrong software.

There is a need to change them though. It's a progression of limits. Since you're unable to edit raising the stakes for a game already in progress, the mandatory straddle is the only workaround for it. Not looking purely for 'gimmicks'.

Just like there are transitions in tournament poker with blinds/levels being raised to move the game along, there are transitions in cash games. These exist in professional casinos, not home game 'gimmicks'.

Show me a major online site that changes stakes on their ring tables.

Play with friends and family located across town or across the globe in a social experience that can't be duplicated with other systems. Combined with a voice-over-internet program like Skype and it's almost like being together in person, except without the hassle of shuffling cards, counting out chips, or timing tournament levels!

Be the hero and start a poker club with work colleagues or with members of your hobby or sports organization. Link directly from your club web site, send email invitations with the built-in buddy system, or use the free directory listing located at www.PokerMavens.net to advertise your site.

Show me how this translates to only major online sites.

Stop paying entry fees for a private table on commercial poker sites, which require all your players to have real-money accounts there. With your own Poker Mavens site, you create your own ring game tables and tournaments, with complete control over the blinds schedule, starting chips, and payout structure.

You're taking "complete control" a little too literally. That doesn't mean you can change them on the fly, contrary to the normal rules of poker. That's not how computer software works.
