There is a need to change them though. It's a progression of limits. Since you're unable to edit raising the stakes for a game already in progress, the mandatory straddle is the only workaround for it. Not looking purely for 'gimmicks'.

You're taking "complete control" a little too literally. That doesn't mean you can change them on the fly, contrary to the normal rules of poker. That's not how computer software works.
