Setup help for server

Post by Finkdaddy »

I am completely new to all of this, so please excuse my lame questions.

I have an Atlantic.net server.
I have the PM software installed on the server.
I purchased a domain from GoDaddy and pointed that domain name to the server as instructed by Atlantic (https://www.atlantic.net/community/howt ... s-records/).
But I still cannot navigate to the server via my URL.

How do I get my URL to connect with the PM software that's installed on the server?

This may be a stupid question, but do I need an SSL in order to make this work?
If so, where should I purchase one?

If not, what else do I need to do to get this thing to work?

Thanks in advance for the advice. I'm sort of at my wit's end here.

Are you able to load your site via your IP address? If not, you likely just need to add PMServer.exe to the Windows Firewall "Allow" list. If that's not the issue then remember that if your File Port setting is anything other than 80 it has to be included in the URL, even if you have a domain name (e.g., www.example.com:8087). If Poker Mavens won't allow you to change your File Port to 80 then it means the IIS Web Server is running and using that port. You'll need to disable it first.

Regarding SSL, see this link:

Alternatively, you can get a free SSL cert via Cloudflare:

Ok, I got everything hooked up if I add :8087 to the url.
That's fantastic, but how can I get people to the server without them having to put :8087 in the url?

I want example.com instead of example.com:8087

Change your File Port setting to 80.
