Block the open registration

I saw many sites that are blocking the registration option and registering new users by themselves.
Do you know if it's due to security issues?

There are no security issues related to tournament registrations that I'm aware of. Typically when sites restrict registration, it's because they are running some kind of satellite or reward system that only certain players qualify for. You'd have to ask the site operator, though.

I'm not talking about the tournaments, I'm talking about user registration.

You mean when accounts are created? The more advanced sites will build a web site around the poker server and use their own login system so they can perform other functions with the accounts. Especially if they have a deposit / cashout system in place, which is not part of the poker server.

Yes, I mean the account.
So it's not a security issue, or is it?
