Shootout Tourney Setup

Post by Supersonics »

As I prep for Season 3 launching in October, I would like to add a Shootout Tournament format to the mix and I would like some feedback about how to set this up. Sorry if this has been answered before, I searched and couldn't find the answer...

I would likely attract anywhere from 20-35 players for this tournament, if I went with six x 6 seat tables for a max field of 36, is there a way to break all of the players out evenly to these tables if only 21 players registered? That would create 3 tables with 3 players and 3 tables with 4 players. But the winners of each table would then meet at a Final Table of 6.

Any advice or recommendations is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

No, it will use the fewest number of tables possible, which would be 6, 5, 5, and 5 with a final table of the 4 winners from round 1.

How are Late Registrations handled in a Shootout tourney format? Is it best to have Late Registration set to 0 minutes?

e.g. I am running a 6 Table, 6 Seats per Table format, and if I have 30 people play, it will place us into 5 tables, 6 players each. But, if someone joins late, it will add another table and everyone will be moved around which defeats the purpose of a Shootout.

I'm really excited to host my first Shootout and am interested in any feedback anyone here can provide.

Here is the structure I'm planning to use. I hope the Final Table will be set an hour into the tournament with the 100x BB structure I'm using (see below)

Tables: 6
Seats per table: 6
Starting Chips: 5,000 (100x BB)
Turn Clock: 15 Seconds
Level Duration: 10 Minutes

Entrants Payouts (%)
2-6 100.00
7-12 65.00 35.00
13-18 50.00 30.00 20.00
19-24 45.00 28.00 17.00 10.00
25-30 40.00 25.00 16.00 11.00 8.00
31-36 36.00 23.00 15.00 11.00 8.00 7.00

Level Stakes
1 25/50/0
2 50/100/0
3 75/150/0
4 100/200/0
5 100/200/25
6 200/400/25
7 300/600/50
8 400/800/50
9 600/1200/75
10 800/1600/75

The software won't allow any value other than 0 for "Late Registration" when Shootout is enabled.

We tested the Shootout format last night, what a blast!

I decided to reduce the Level duration from 10 minutes to 6 minutes to add some more pressure as a few of the tables has some passive players and ramping the blinds up will help incentivize them to play a little faster. ;)

I'm excited for tomorrow night as I'm hoping to have a field of 36 players on 6 Tables, 6 Seats per table, with 6 minute levels.

I wish each table could vote to end a break early, instead it needs every table in the field to agree to end early.

Anyway, if anyone is looking to try something different, I highly recommend the Shootout format.

Cheers,

The "end-break-early" option only appears when a tournament gets down to its final table. You need an unanimous vote and the odds of getting that with more than a few players is rare.
