Banning Users

Post by Zabulus »

When you ban a user, by computer, what does that do? Does it just ban their IP or does it put a cookie on their machine?

Thanks

The PC ID is a random number saved as a Flash cookie on the first connection. The IP address is separate from that. You can blacklist either one or both in combination.

So if the user clears cookies, he would no longer be banned right?

Flash cookies are separate from normal browser cookies. They are not easily cleared. A player would have to know where they were stored and manually delete the file. And that only affects the PC ID, not the IP address.
