reduce time to show cards?

Post by donatello »

IMO it would be good to reduce the time it takes to show cards after a river bet is called. I don't know if there's some technological reason why it needs to be how it is, but just from a game-play standpoint, it's a bit too long imo.

The time it takes to start showing or the amount of time they are shown? If you're talking about the latter, there's already a setting for that: "Showdown seconds" in the Client Settings group, 0 to 15 seconds. The default is 2.

Talking about the former, the amount of time between calling a bet and seeing what the opponent's hand is.

Kind of minor :p. But when you make a close call and you're dying to see if you won and kind of know deep down you were supposed to fold... it's a really agonizing 3 and a half seconds or whatever it is.

There's only a 1 second pause programmed in the code after the chips are collected to the pot, which takes a fraction of a second itself for the animation. Any additional time to that would be from internet latency and load on the server and speed of the client computer.
